Welcome to another edition of
Spotlight on Command!
First off, No Mercy, our illustrious XO! Mercy
has been in the fleet for nearly two years. The
previous Section 31 VA, Mercy became the
temporary XO when Firix decided to step down
to Command Adviser, and became the full XO
upon a fleet-wide vote.
SPOTLIGHT ON NO MERCY
What made you decide to join the 12th?
It’s not a huge interesting story really. I used to run my own fleet; it
was small, with a few mates that I know and over the years it began
to be less active to I left it. I was looking for a really active fleet, a
fleet I could really get my teeth into and help out in any way I could.
I had heard of a few fleets and research a few but everyone was talk-
ing about 2 fleets: UFP and 12th fleet,. I had a look at UFP and they
do multiple gaming platforms which I found a bit annoying so after
reading up on 12th fleet some more I decided that it was going to be
the best fit for me...and the good thing is I have never looked back and
never regretted the decision I made all those years ago, People here are
so friendly and really easy to get along with and the organization and
polices in place fit in well with my organized lifestyle.
What is your favourite thing to do in STO?
Hmmm.... To be perfectly honest its getting with the community and
interacting with friends over a STF or 10 : ). I love getting on TS and
having a laugh, playing all sorts of games and just talking complete
nonsense with my close net of friends within the fleet.
Another thing I like doing is helping out and making sure everyone else
is having a good time. It gives me a real sense of achievement and well
being knowing I was able to help a fellow member who is struggling or
is a new member and needs guiding through the labyrinth that is Star
Trek Online.
What made you originally decide to play STO?
I am a hard core Star Trek fan. Ever since I was a kid one of my past
time memories was sitting down and watching the original series. I
have every trek game on both the PC, PS1 and PS2 and loved most
of them (the ones I didn’t like I blamed the developer for making the
games game play crappy, nothing to do with the Star Trek Genre LOL!).
So when I found out that there was going to be a massive game of star
trek with thousands of fans coming together in one game I just had
to have it so as soon as the website went up I registered, when the
actual website went up it had a user count and I was actually the 11th
person to signed up which I thought was cool, the game itself has over
400,000 registered users now and every day its going up which just
emphases the sheer awesomeness that is STO.
As past VA of S31, what are you most proud of?
I think the thing I am most proud of was working with the members of
Section 31 that helped us turn the old Intel division, which was a very
small and very inactive division, into the most active and vibrant divi-
sion in the fleet. When I first joined the fleet I was assigned to the Intel
division (which is now Section 31). No one was hardly posting, hardly
any of the members were online and from first impressions it looked
like a very lost division that had not really found its true meaning. After
a short while I realized that this division had real potential and with the
right people it could be the best so the first action on the agenda was
to light the flame underneath this division. So with that said I went on
a posting spree, posting everywhere and anywhere in the division get-
ting people interested and getting the Intel community together. The
next thing on the agenda was to make contacts, make people inter-
ested in the division so they joined us, along the way I made friends,
people like Goldy, who was MACO at the time and RAMBO who was
again medical. Us 3 hit it off from the very start and as time went on
I think they realized that Intel was the place they wanted to be in, so
with that they transferred into Intel. We then started working together
to get other people interested. Goldy went into overdrive with posting
while Rambo got people interested when playing with other teams and
generally being friendly and helpful on TS. Overtime the division grew
and we got more and more transfers from other divisions as well as
from more and more new recruits. Recruit levels increased due to Goldy
having the great idea of changing the name of the division to section
31 while I changed our recruitment message and recruitment tag line.
A year later and Section 31 is a hive of activity! Goldy has now taken
over as VA of Section 31 and Rambo is his right hand man as RA and
like I said before, because of transfers we have had some awesome
people join the division, people like Patrick and Sysil who are extremely
active and fun people to be around and, like all members of Section 31,
are always around to help and generally be awesome with fellow mem-
bers. Over my time there I am proud to say that I was there when it all
happened, there when it blossomed into the great division it is today
and so proud that though all of its members it will continue to grow
and further expand its awesomeness throughout the fleet.
How high on the trek Geek ‘o’ Meter are you?
I would have to say I’m about a 8 out of 10, I mean I have all the games,
I have every single series on DVD and now blu-ray as they become
available, I have all the films on blu-ray that I watch regularly. I been to
